Pinoy FBT 2012!

AVAILABLE & TESTED SOLUTIONS

  • Ultrasurf (for more details, go to this tutorial by sil_Ence)
    Blocked yung SIM mo for UDP connection (tama ba ako? haha). Ibang connection yata yung dinadaluyan ni Ultrasurf. Kaya pede kang mag Ultrasurf sa blocked SIM mo.
  • Buy a New Dongle (Other Network)
    Switch to Globe.
  • Buy a New SIM

    Smart Buddy Browser SIM, Retailer SIM, TNT or any other Smart internet-ready SIM (SmartBro Sim -> Di pwede). Do Alternative Setup 1 or 2. Here’s a step-by-step:

    1. Sa System Tray mo, siguraduhing walang program na possibleng mag-o-auto-connect sa internet e.g. instant messengers, updaters, etc. Kung meron, exit/disable it. Kung ayaw pa rin, go to your Task Manager, Processes tab, right-click on the entry, choose End Process;
    2. Insert new SIM on dongle;
    3. Open dashboard and wait for the modem to completely recognize the newly inserted SIM;
    4. Make sure na may installation kana ng working VPN app;
    5. Follow the Dashboard Settings of Alternative Setup 1 or 2 (Scroll down further to see the setups);
    6. Connect to Smart via Dashboard. Hinatayin hanggang maging stable yung connection mo;
    7. Connect with your VPN at your preferable client. AGAIN. Hintayin hanggang maging stable yung connection. WAG NA WAG munang mag open ng browser o ng kahit ano pang program na kumakain ng bandwidth;
    8. Pag OK na, pwede na!

So far, so good. This theory might prove itself in due time.

Sadly, rjebuna found this not working at all. If this turns out to be ineffective, we'll have you updated.

Ang ginagawa ko, niloloadan ko yung sim ng 15 pesos then gagamitin ko for 15 to 29 minutes internet (of course, no tricks involved), hindi ko na hinihintay lumabas yung message ng Smart na "You have insufficient balance... blah blah blah" (nagta-timer ako), saka ko ikoconnect ang VPN.

My own theories are:

Maybe effective:

1. Buy a new smartbuddy sim.
2. Loadan ang sim kahit mga 15 pesos.
3. Gamitin sa regular surfing for 15 to 29 minutes (gumamit ng timer).

Note: Observation info only from hereon.

VPN: Hotspot Shield OpenVPN (for more details, go to this tutorial by 89dufpoqidjv)
SIM: Smart Buddy Browser SIM (bagong bili, 40 pesos, NEVER... EVER... INQUIRE FOR BALANCE)

Typical Setup

APN: internet

Dashboard Settings

Sa pagkakaintindi ko (di kasi akong ma-techie na tao), eto yung connection established between you and Smart. Information = unique SIM number, data, load balance, etc.
Poof! SIM blocked for UDP access.

VPN connected

Anchorfree HSS IP (VPN)

Observation:
After successful connectivity, yan ang makikita mo.

Q&A:

SAME SIM. Another IP.

Theory:

Q&A:

Anchorfree HSS IP (VPN)

First Established Connection

Reconnection

Observation:
Eto ang di ko pa rin ma-intindihan! (or tamad lang ako mag research) I connected to the same client #55 sa Hotspot Shield without disconnecting my dashboard, in comparison sa first connection, iba na yung proxy server. Ewan. Padayon!

Alternative Setup 2

APN: www.globe.com.ph

Dashboard Settings

PPP (Point-to-Point) IP

Observation:
Globe? Sa hindi nakaka-alam... Basta Globe... Possible! Same SIM, different APN, different IP.

SUMMARY OF THEORIES (Depressing Reality)
  • Wala tayong control sa internal IP between Smart and our SIM. I tried using a static IP as suggested by our fellow co-members. Smart rejects it.
    VPN is NOT stealing = YES;
    SMART needs revenue to sustain itself = YES;
    VPN affects Smart’s income generation = YES.

  • Pag na-block na yung SIM mo, blocked na talaga yan for UDP.
  • Google. Counter-measures. We'll never know. He could be me. He could be you. Ayaw ko mag generate ng distrust dito, but it is reality, people.

The APN Theory

Quote:
Konting Kaalaman:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_Point_Name

Access Point Name (APN) is a computer protocol that typically allows a user's computer to access the Internet using the mobile phone network.

On a technical level it is a configurable network identifier used by a mobile device when connecting to a GSM carrier. The carrier will then examine this identifier to determine what type of network connection should be created, for example: what IP addresses should be assigned to the wireless device, what security methods should be used, and how/or if, it should be connected to some private customer network.[1]

More specifically, the Access Point Name (APN) identifies an IP Packet Data Network (PDN), that a mobile data user wants to communicate with. In addition to identifying a PDN, an APN may also be used to define the type of service, (e.g. connection to wireless application protocol (WAP) server, multimedia messaging service (MMS)), that is provided by the PDN. APN is used in 3GPP data access networks, e.g. general packet radio service (GPRS), evolved packet core (EPC).
APNs:

APN: internet
  • Assigned and EXPECTED to be used for MOBILE BROWSING with a BROWSING SIM e.g. Smart Buddy, TNT, etc.;
  • May bandwidth limit. Mobile browsing data is compressed for faster transfer. Compare that with regular browsing on a computer;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwidth_cap
    Quote:
    A bandwidth cap, also known as a bit cap, limits the transfer of a specified amount of data over a period of time. Internet service providers commonly apply a cap when a channel intended to be shared by many users becomes overloaded, or may be overloaded, by a few users. Implementation of a bandwidth cap is sometimes termed as Fair Access Policy or Usage-based billing.
    Smart VPN users, pag sabay2x kayong nag to-torrent, stream, online games o kahit anu pang klaseng internet access na malakas ang kain sa bandwidth, mahahalata talaga ni Smart, at posibleng nakaka-experience na siya ng overloading sa servers niya that were designed and intended for light data transfer only e.g. mobile browsing.
  • May data transfer duration (for the lack of a better term). Ibig sabihin, more or less than a few minutes, or an hour. Sa mobile browsing kasi, ON-and-OFF yung internet traffic. Pag nag load na yung page mo, OFF muna siya. Another page, ON, then OFF afterwards. Now, sa case ng broadband usage, continuous yung flow e.g. torrents, downloads, Facebook (auto-update), instant messengers, e-mails, online games, content streaming, etc. Kung ako si Smart, magdududa talaga ako.

APN: SMARTBRO
  • Assigned and EXPECTED to be used for a BROADBAND CONNECTION with a BROADBAND (SmartBro) SIM;

    May point si jondgreat. MALALAMAN ni Smart kung anong klaseng SIM ang ginagamit mo.
  • Walang bandwidth limit, o kung meron man, MALAKI ang bandwidth limit. Allowed for downloading, content streaming, long, continuous duration of internet connectivity, etc.;
  • As far as I know, using a SmartBro SIM doesn't work with VPN, Ultrasurf or any other FBT/UBT out there.

  • I never had a Globe dongle or used a Globe SIM. Gusto kong mag-unlock pero di ko magawa!

The Random Cluster Sampling+Blocking Theory

Theory lang ah. Sa dami ng Smart users ngayon (mobile/broadband), Smart won't be able to accommodate all numbers for observation (e.g. bandwidth movement kahit walang load, nakakapagtext kahit zero balance, etc.)

So the best way would be RANDOM CLUSTER SAMPLING (Statistics ba to?! ). Kunyari ako yung Head ng Development-something-ewan Team nila. Sasabihin ko: "Let's put all numbers with the prefix 0919, 0920, 0921... under observation." Poof! Unti-unti nang na-fi-filter yung mga PAID users from the "FREE" users.

Kaya nangyari, luckily yung number mo has some format na hindi kasali sa tinamaan ng cluster sampling. I'm not saying na yung number prefix lang.
